So why live with less? There are so many benefits to living a minimalist lifestyle! I’m sure you’ve heard some or all of these, but one very important one is that you’ll have more time to do what you want. Don’t want to be cleaning up all the time? No need to if you don’t have a lot to take care of.

During this time of quarantine I’ve been able to really begin to prioritize what I want to do with my time. Don’t get me wrong, when we were first ordered to stay home I did a whole hell of a lot of nothing, absolutely nothing! I binged watched on Netflix, and I scrolled through social media more than I care to admit. But after time, it got boring. I needed something in my life that felt more meaningful.

Yes, I have kids. No, I do not spend every waking moment with them. I like to think that I put in the tough days and years to help them become independent (not so much so that I never do anything with them, but I do have time to be me).

And yes, I have kids. Is minimalism even possible? Yes. Are they happy? Also, yes. They don’t have to clean as much, and what they do own, they love. I, in no way deprive them of anything. They have about a million and one stuffed animals (I have a cool solution for that) because that’s something that brings them both joy, along with a few other toys that they adore. We read every night as well and have a small collection of favorites that are in rotation, until were ready to pass them along to someone else.

So why live with less? Even my kids see the benefits. Less stress, and more time! It’s give us time to do the things that bring us joy! As I began my usual quarterly clean out of my place I began to let even more go, things that used to bring me joy, but are no longer relevant to my lifestyle. There was some emotional connection to things that almost hurt to let go of. But do you know what happened when I let it go? I started writing again. I wasn’t unconsciously thinking that I could be doing something else, or that I had other hobbies that could be keeping me busy. It freed up my mind!

So I dare you to have a look around. Do you think you could find something to declutter.
