Minimalism and social media

Hello friends!
Its been a little while since I’ve posted. I have so much content to share with you, but with what’s been going on (yet another layer) with protesting, and being locked in the house again I needed to take a bit of a break from social media, which also meant not posting for my blog.
My emotions have been pretty heavy, and to be honest I don’t even know where we’re at with covid19 in California anymore. One way I take care of myself, as I’ve mentioned above, is staying off of social media. I’m in no way trying to hide from what’s going on in the world, but I’ve had to process in my own way. I‘ve been having those hard conversations with my children and my grandmother about the protests. One thing I love about my grandmother is she is very open minded with me. She watches the news on a daily basis, so that was solely where her information was coming from.
As for my boys, and especially my oldest, there is confusion and anger around how the black community is being treated. I know there are a lot of people out there fighting for what is right, and I am there with them in spirit. I will continue to have these conversations with my family as needed, because it is so important to understand the world around us, even if it doesn’t feel good. I love that my boys have compassion and empathy for the people who are hurting. I want them to always have this, which will require honesty and education on my part.
If you are in any way feeling anxious, stress, or emotional please take a break from social media. One thing I have been doing is learning some new things on YouTube. What‘s one way you take care of yourself during stressful/ emotional times? I’d love to hear in the comments below.
